STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY AND ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSES: OBTAINING U AND T VISA CERTIFICATION FOR IMMIGRANT VICTIMS OF CRIME AND TRAFFICKING [pdf]

Victim advocates, attorneys, service and other professionals play a crucial role in assisting immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect, stalking, and human trafficking to access justice and file for victim based forms of immigration relief.

This training is designed to enhance participants’ understanding of legal rights, victim service options, and best practices for working with immigrant survivors. It will include a particular focus on the U and T visa programs, Maryland’s certification laws, and the role of advocates and attorneys helping survivors obtain U and T visa certifications. The webinar will highlight best practices for building relationships with law enforcement, courts, and prosecutors that improve victim’s ability to obtain U and T visa certifications and improve access justice and immigration relief for survivors and their children.
