Workshop Description
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and National Judicial Network experts provide tips, tools, and policy updates at this workshop for judges encountering youth eligible for Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) classification in state court proceedings, including an overview of SIJ, identifying SIJ-eligible youth, SIJ order best practices, and judge’s role in the SIJ process. The presentation highlights parts of the USCIS 2022 regulations that are particularly important for state court judges issuing SIJS judicial determinations. This workshop was presented at the Juvenile Justice Conference of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 18, 2024.
