National Judicial Network Peer-to-Peer Session – What Judges Need to Know About the New T-Visa Regulations (June 11, 2024)

New T Visa Regulations: Provide Helpful Guidance for Judges (PowerPoint)

Description

Hon. Susan Breall, joined by Veronica Thronson and Leslye E. Orloff, will discuss the new T-Visa regulations published by USCIS in April 2024 and how they assist state court judges in recognizing human trafficking in state family and juvenile court cases. Faculty will also expand on what these new regulations mean in terms of how long it will take after an immigration case is filed for litigants and children to see benefits from their application. This will help judges with ongoing family court cases where litigants or children are identified as human trafficking victims.

Faculty

  • Hon. Susan Breall, San Francisco Superior Court, CA
  • Veronica T. Thronson, Clinical Professor, Michigan State University College of Law
  • Leslye Orloff, Director, National Immigrant Women’s Advocacy Project
