This is the presentation from the “Multi-Disciplinary Best Practices: Immigrant Domestic & Sexual Violence Victims, Language Access and the U and T Visas” training for law enforcement, prosecutors, attorneys, and advocates in Missouri. NIWAP offered two identical trainings on two separate days and used this presentation for both trainings. The PowerPoint discusses how to identify victims and witness who qualify for crime victim based forms of immigration relief. It also covers how to enhance officer, victim, and community safety and by utilizing immigration relief as a crime fighting tool. Finally, it includes language access tools to understand immigrant victim/offender dynamics as well as pretrial and trial strategies to combat common defenses to cases involving immigrant victims of crime.
