Section 787(n) of this law establishes a protocol for law enforcement agencies to respond to requests for U Visa certification. It establishes that when a U Visa applicant approaches a law enforcement agent and the agent reasonably believes the person is a victim, the agent will request a certifying official to certify as “soon as practicable.”
