National Judicial Network Peer-to-Peer Session – Ensuring Judicial Safety: Strategies to Protect Judges and Court Staff (February 6, 2024)

An insightful peer-to-peer session where we address the various threats faced by judicial officers and their families, including stalking, assaults, electronic surveillance, and interference. Our expert presenters discuss proactive measures for prevention, effective responses in the event of threats or attacks, and strategies for coping with the aftermath trauma and facilitating healing for the victims. Robin Morante, the Chief of Court and judicial Security for the State of NJ, will briefly describe some of the initiatives she has implemented to enhance judicial security and threat response in her home state. Robin will also share some proactive guidance to bolster their personal safety in and out of the courthouse setting. We’ll explore overlooked dangers in both criminal and civil court cases, emphasizing awareness about domestic violence perpetrators and stalkers. This session aims to empower judicial staff with actionable insights and tools to enhance judicial safety in their jurisdictions.
