Improving Safety for Communities, Officers and Immigrant Survivors: Focusing on Primary Aggressor Determinations

This presentation helped participants build collaborations between police and prosecutors, and victim advocates and attorneys, relationships that can benefit victims. It also helped participants know how self-defense and primary aggressor determinations are made, understand how these determinations are particularly helpful in cases of immigrant victims, and how to employ best practices for police response at crime scenes to promote effective justice system responses that hold offenders accountable.
