In a case before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court on appeal from the judgement of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania NIWAP filed an amicus brief prepared by K & L Gates. NIWAP’s amicus brief identified legal errors made by a Pennsylvania judge who refused to issue Special Immigrant Juvenile Status judicial determinations to an immigrant child in a case where the court issued custody orders. NIWAP’s brief quoted Department of Homeland Security policies, regulations, statutes and publications that were contrary to each of the state court judge’s legal errors under federal Special Immigrant Juvenile Status laws (February 1, 2024).
