Texas Timeline of Public Benefits for Immigrant Adults & Children (December 8, 2025) [pdf]
This document provides a comparison of access to several public benefits programs by immigration status for crime victims in the state. It demonstrates the differences in access to benefits among immigrant victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, human trafficking, and other crimes based on the form of victim-based immigration status the victim has or is pursuing. The charts compare access to benefits for child victims and adult victims. The document provides an overview of the timelines from filing for work authorization to approval, through lawful permanent residency and naturalization. The timeline also highlights when a victim becomes lawfully present or a qualified immigrant for public benefits purposes separately for VAWA, T visa, U visa, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status cases.
